The NIPUN Bharat Mission officially launched on 5th July The mission is being launched by the Central Government. It refers to the “National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy”. It is included in the overall education program: Samagra Shiksha School education.

In order to make sure that every child in the country reaches Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) by Grade 3, the Ministry of Education has launched NIPUN Bharat (National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy) by the end of 2026 or 2027. NIPUN Bharat Mission will be implemented by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE) at the National level.

As part of a centrally sponsored scheme known as Samagra Shiksha, a National Mission has been announced to provide access and retain children in the foundational years of schooling, build teacher capacity, develop high-quality and diversified Student and Teacher Resources/Learning Materials, and track student progress in achieving learning outcomes.

What is NIPUN Bharat Mission:

  • The Nipun Bharat Mission Plan has been launched by the Service of Schooling on fifth July 2021.

Based on the learning outcomes developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), international research, and ORF studies, a child should be able to read 45 to 60 words per minute, and at least 60 words per minute, from an unknown text with comprehension and clarity, by the end of Grades II and III.

It is expected that NIPUN Bharat Mission will be most successful if teachers are empowered to develop their pedagogical skills. As a result, NCERT is developing a special package for teaching foundational literacy and numeracy under NISHTHA, and around 25 lakh teachers teaching in pre-primary to primary grade will be trained this year.

Students Covered Under NIPUN Bharat Mission:

The mission will focus on offspring of the age gathering of 3 to 9 years including pre-school to Grade 3. Foundational Literacy and Numeracy:

Foundational literacy
